Digital Art Experience Remastered Rotterdam officially opens

Remastered, the digital art experience, officially opened yesterday, 9 September, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam. DJ Sam Feldt, who created the opening track for Remastered, provided the musical accompaniment. From now on, Remastered is open from Wednesday to Sunday, with eight time slots on weekdays and ten at weekends.

Dutch Masters

Remastered is a 60-minute experience featuring, among other things, a waterfall door, flying your own UFO on a giant LED screen, interacting with schools of fish and sailing through the clouds. The Old Dutch Masters, such as Van Gogh, Vermeer, Bosch and Rembrandt, have been digitally reimagined by the New Dutch Masters, such as Sam Feldt, and the best Dutch digital studios, including Woodwork, Y=f(X) lab, YiPP and Studio Smack. A new digital world has been created with the Old Dutch Masters.

Words of praise

Remastered has been open to the public since 30 July. The period leading up to the official opening was used to put the finishing touches in place. Since then, more than 10,000 visitors have enjoyed the experience, resulting in almost universally glowing reviews. Several media outlets have also already visited Remastered. The AD wrote: ‘In this new Rotterdam attraction, you’ll be spinning on your feet: works by Dutch masters come to life.’ De Volkskrant: ‘Remastered, beautifully situated on the quay beneath the Erasmus Bridge, brings painting to life in an audiovisual spectacle, where pulsating dance music transforms Mondrian’s Victory Boogie Woogie into a dance floor in a futuristic nightclub.’ RTL 4’s Editie NL described Remastered as ‘A feast for the senses. The final room is breathtaking.’

Visitors agree: ‘An overwhelming way of translating the paintings of the old masters into a modern experience. It’s all made possible by a wealth of IT and AV technology, but that’s not the point. What really makes the difference is the way the creators bring this art to life. An art form in its own right; 55 minutes I won’t forget in a hurry.’
