Remastered: is it a museum or a festival?

In an unexpected spot in Rotterdam – namely beneath the Erasmus Bridge on the River Maas – you’ll now find a truly special place: Remastered. This venue is best described as a museum for people who might not be so keen on ‘traditional’ museums.

A wonderful world of art

At Remastered, you’ll experience something you’ve probably never experienced before: the Old Dutch Masters (think Vermeer, Rembrandt and Van Gogh) reimagined by new Dutch Masters. These reimaginings are visual and dynamic, accompanied by music. You’ll be transported into a wondrous, artistic world with colourful scenes and beats that make it very hard to stand still. We couldn’t have got any closer to a festival this summer.

Full attention

The experience lasts sixty minutes, and believe us when we say: you really won’t notice the time passing. It flies by because you’re in a bit of a bubble for a while, down there beneath the Erasmus Bridge. It’s a truly special experience that’s best enjoyed if you leave your phone in a locker. Do you find that difficult? Then try to pick it up as little as possible. There’s simply too much beauty to see and experience; you shouldn’t want to do that through the screen of your smartphone. When you come out, you’ll really need a moment to reflect on everything you’ve actually seen. We felt as though we’d been able to view and experience the old masterpieces all over again.

The past in the future

And, hurray! Remastered is working on new shows. Of course, there are still plenty of old masters with loads of ‘old work’ that could do with a fresh update. We can’t wait to see more!
